summary continued
A new steel structure and
ring beam to support the top of the structural wall was built with
a new lead roof and terracotta tiles laid to the mansards.
Internal decoration to all
areas including restoration of damaged cornices
and plasterwork details. A traditional staircase was constructed
with the first flight in Portland stone, further flights were of
a traditional timber construction. A continuous mahogany hand rail
linked all levels around a central well. A reclaimed victorian domed
skylight provides natural light through all three storeys to the
entrance hall below.
